Children’s Voice began in 2000 as a magazine written by children. It was the idea of a New
York businessman called Sam Harris. He thought that people should listen to what children had to say. Harris soon found that adult newspapers were interested in the children’s writing. He decided to close the magazine and started selling the children’s news stories to adult newspapers.

The English Vocabulary Profile (EVP) is an online resource providing detailed information about the words, phrases, phrasal verbs and idioms that learners of English know and use at each of the six levels of the CEFR. The vocabulary syllabus of Prepare! has been informed by using EVP to ensure that students at each CEFR level are presented with high-frequency words and phrases that are suitable for their language level and relevant to each unit topic. Many of the most common words in English have a great number of different meanings and a thorough knowledge of these words helps students to operate successfully even with limited language. The special Word profile feature in Levels 4-7 deals with these powerful words in detail. Furthermore, the main vocabulary sections regularly focus on aspects other than ‘concrete’ topic nouns and verbs, such as adjectives and adverbs, prepositions, phrasal verbs, word families and phrases. All of these aspects are important if the syllabus is to provide true breadth and depth.

JACKSIЕ ЕVANCHO It was while watching the musical version of Phantom of the Opera on TV that Jackie Evancho found her passion for music. She started singing the songs around her home and revealed a surprisingly mature singing voice. Jackie started entering local singing contests and after seeing the reaction of audiences, her parents realised her potential.
From there, Jackie's life changed dramatically. Her mum started uploading Jackie's performances to the web to share with her ever-increasing numbers of fans. Jackie used the clips to enter an audition for the TV show, America's Got Talent and won a place on the show! Although she wasn't quite good enough to win the show -she finished in second place - it was an incredible achievement. Since the show, she's worked as a professional singer. She's released several albums, toured the US and even starred in a Hollywood thriller.

Anna wanted to be a singer in a musical, but she was very nervous so she asked her friend Margot to help her practise her songs. Anna asked Margot to go with her when she tried for a part, but she was too nervous to be able to sing well. The director didn’t give the part to any of the girls who applied for it. Then he noticed Margot in the waiting room and thought she looked right for the character. He asked her to sing for him. Luckily she knew the songs because she’d helped Anna to practise them. She didn’t think she had a chance of getting the part, so she wasn’t nervous. As she had a good voice, she sang very well and got the part.
