Was it a trick?
A few months later, a journalist visited the Tasadays. When he arrived he discovered that the Tasadays lived in houses not caves. They watched television and they had modern clothes. He asked them what happened

'A big company wanted to build a road here', they said. A man called Elizande wanted to save the forest. He gave us money and asked us to live like cave people.'

The journalist took photographs of the Tasadays in their houses and wrote about it in the newspapers - 'The Tasaday Trick' it said. The scientists were very angry and they went back to see the Tasadays. When they arrived, they saw that the Tasadays lived in caves, not houses. They did not have television or electricity. They were stone age cave people.

Were the Tasadays stone age people? Perhaps the journalist wanted to write a good story Perhaps he gave them money and asked them to live in houses. Or perhaps the scientists wanted to save the forest. What do you think?
