English Grammar in Use, Fourth Edition, Murphy R., 2012.

 This is the fourth edition of English Grammar in Use. I wrote the original edition when I was a teacher at the Swan School of English, Oxford. I would like to repeat my thanks to my colleagues and students at the school for their help, encouragement and interest at that time.

It’s often said that 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' and our ideas of attractiveness certainly depend on personal preferences. Nevertheless, there are faces which most people agree are very beautiful or handsome. Is this something that we just feel about a certain face, or does it mean that there are 'rules' for what makes someone look beautiful?
It was long thought that symmetry was the key to explaining beauty. If the two halves of a face are symmetrical, we find it pleasing. There is also a deeper reason why symmetry is desirable to someone looking for a partner of the opposite sex, especially when a girl is looking for a boy. A symmetrical face and body suggests that someone’s genes must be in very good condition, and that their children will be strong and healthy.

В настоящем учебнике излагается систематический курс грамматики английского языка, включающий морфологию и синтаксис. В курсе нормативные сведения объединены с теорией современного английского языка. Ряд явлений английской грамматики, в частности проблема местоимений, падежей существительных, наклонения, видовременных форм глагола и др., трактуется нетрадиционно. В грамматику включены разделы о сочетаемости отдельных частей речи и членов предложения, имеющие большое значение для практического овладения языком. MARK BEZOS got a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in advertising and public relations from Texas Christian University in 1992. After he completed his studies, he took a job in an advertising company. He moved through several companies, became an account manager, and finally a vice president at Renegade, LLC, a New York-based social media and marketing agency. In 1999,
Bezos and his business partner David Nathanson started the Bezos Nathanson Marketing Group. Seven years later, they sold the business to a larger advertising company - EastWest Creative - and Bezos joined Robin Hood, a poverty-fighting charity in New York City, as the Senior Vice President of Development, Communications and Events - a role in which he felt excited to have found a way to use his sales skills to do good. In 2012, Bezos became a volunteer captain in the Scarsdale Volunteer Fire Company in Westchester County, New York, where he lives with his wife and four children.
