   Part A tests your ability to skim, scan and record information quickly and accurately.
You read four short texts (А-D) typically encountered in the medical workplace on the same topic, usually a medical condition or procedure. Each text addresses a different aspect of the topic, and at least one text will be graphical, for example, a table, graph, or flow chart.
The texts can contain a variety of information, such as dosages, how to administer medication, what advice to give patients, symptoms and risk factors.




The treatment of phantom limb pain using virtual reality.
Following amputation, the patient commonly experiences the amputated limb as still intact. This so-called phantom limb can sometimes be painful - something which can have far-reaching implications for the patient’s life. For instance, psychological adjustment to amputation is negatively correlated with levels of phantom limb pain (PLP) and amputees with PLP are less likely to use a prosthetic limb. This in turn often results in the restriction of normal activities and is associated with higher levels of depression.

One promising development in the treatment of PLP for amputees is a device known as a mirror box which allows an amputee to view a reflection of their surviving arm or leg in the space that their phantom limb would occupy. For some patients, this can induce vivid sensations of movement which appear to originate from the muscles and joints of their phantom arm as well as reduce PLP. It does, however, require the patient to remain in a fairly fixed position in order to see the mirror. It also depends on patients maintaining focus on the image of the phantom limb and ignoring their intact limb (which provides the movement of the phantom limb via its reflection).
