FIRST CLASS.
Start by eliciting two or three of the languages used in the picture. Then put students in pairs to discuss how many languages and phrases they know. In feedback, find out which pair recognised the most languages.
Give students a moment to read through the words, and complete the first sentence as an example with the class. Ask students to work individually then compare their answers in pairs. Monitor and note how well students already understand these phrases.
• In feedback, elicit answers, check any unknown words, and drill words that are difficult to say for pronunciation.
