The book represents the third volume in the Korean Grammar in Use series. As such, it is designed to assist advanced-level students in organizing the many grammar points covered in the upper-level classes (Levels 5—6) of Korean language institutes affiliated with Korean universities as well as the grammar knowledge required to pass the Advanced level of the Test of Proficiency In Korean (TOPIK). We have endeavored to include advanced grammar points and example sentences that best fit the needs of advanced Korean students, and for those students who want to learn the nuances of the grammar points as precisely as possible, we have also included English translations. In addition, we have included a number of grammar points that are not covered in other Korean grammar books or that have been found to be used incorrectly or difficult to understand in the classroom. Thus, this volume should prove to be very useful to both students and instructors alike. Finally, to improve on the problem many textbooks have of introducing the meanings of grammar points without providing any information about their specific contexts for actual use, we have included activities to allow learners to construct dialogues that illustrate how the target grammar points are used in specific situations. We have also added practice exercises to help learners prepare to take the increasingly popular TOPIK exam.
