Gone are the days when we worked 9 to 5, five days a week. With access to tools which allow round-the-clock communication, our current working day may be 9 to 5 in the office, but outside the office it is any time from the moment we wake up to the moment our heads hit the pillow. Our employers, colleagues and clients have access to us literally all day, seven days a week, making it hard to achieve the work- life balance we’re supposed to strive for.

Supposing you had the power of invisibility and could walk around crowded cities completely unnoticed. Amazingly, millions of people around the world have this phenomenal superpower. They spend their time picking up waste from the streets, collecting it in handcarts and selling it for recycling. The job is dirty and physically demanding, not to mention highly dangerous, given the risk of injuries when handling sharp objects without proper safety equipment. They're invisible inasmuch as the rest of us barely notice them. Most people are blind to the fact that, but for these waste pickers, our cities would be overflowing with trash.

I always go on holiday with my family - my parents and my two brothers. We travel in different ways. We sometimes fly, we sometimes go by train and we sometimes drive. My favourite way to travel is by train. When I travel I always take my clothes, my phone and some books. Oh. and when we travel in the summer, I always put a sun hat in my bag!

She’s very good at numbers and can explain everything about maths. I like cooking, so I make pasta for all the family when they’re busy!

Write What can we use a computer for? on the board and challenge the students in small groups to write a list, e.g. to surf the internet, to write an email, to download films or music, to find information, to present information. If appropriate, award points to the teams for their ideas and write a list on the board. Make sure you include write a blog on the list. Next, ask the students in their groups to take turns to ask and answer: What do you use a computer for? What would you like to learn to do on a computer?

My name’s Rita, but my friends call me Ritzy. My hair is short, dark and curly! I’m from Canada and I live in the capital - Ottawa. I go to Williamson High School and my favourite subject is maths. I like to say what I think, but Sometimes people say I’m a bit impolite. I get good marks at school and my teachers say I’m quite intelligent, so l am doing something right! I’m really into sports, and I play tennis well. I’m also learning the guitar at the moment. I don’t have my own guitar, but I have asked my parents to get me one for my birthday!
