Ask the class to look at the images of children going to school. Ask Where are the children going? Elicit or teach the different modes of transport seen in the images (walk, ride a horse, ride a bike, run). Ask learners to tell you some other ways of going to school, e.g. by bus, by train.

Write the first word, w, nd, w, on the board, or display on the Interactive White Board (IWB). Ask for a volunteer to come and write in the correct letters to complete the word, to model the task. Ask the class Is that correct? and have other learners correct the spelling if necessary.
Learners then work individually to complete the words with the missing letters and write two more classroom words of their own. Give a time limit, then have them check their answers in pairs.

Jean-Antoine Nollet was a French clergyman and physicist. In 1746 he gathered about two hundred monks into a circle about a mile (1.6 km) in circumference, with pieces iron wire connecting them. He then discharged a battery of Leyden jars through the human chain and observed that each man reacted at substantially the same time to the electric shock, showing that the speed of electricity's propagation was very high. Given a more humane detection system, this could be a way of signaling over long distances. In 1 748, Nollet invented one of the first electrometers, the electroscope, which detected the presence of an electric charge by using electrostatic attraction and repulsion.

I’ve always enjoyed playing computer games and I’d like to make them when I’m older. My cousin works in IT and makes cartoons and games so I asked him if I could go to work with him. I learned so much including how to draw a simple cartoon. But it was really tiring - all I wanted to do was relax at the end of the day, not play computer games!
