   The development of this course lias been a large part of our lives for well over six yean. During this time, we have become indebted to literally thousands of people who have so generously shared their time, skills and experience. In particular, we appreciate the constructive advice of the numerous teachers and students who helped with our initial classroom research and with the piloting, the readers and the language teaching specialists. The final version owes much to their enthusiastic involvement.

Today there aren’t any dinosaurs but for 75 million years more than 800 different kinds of dinosaurs lived all over the world. Some dinosaurs had two legs and some had four legs.

Distribute one copy of the worksheet to each pair of learners.
• Ask learners to look at the picture. Elicit an initial description, asking all the questions in the past tense. Who was in this house last night? Which members of the family can you see? What time was this picture taken?
• Next, ask learners to brainstorm verbs to describe the actions in the picture. To give learners more support in the activity later, write the verbs on the board (in the base form); do not write, if you want to stretch them more by having them remember.

Comparatives quiz cards.
Tell the learners that they are going to receive a quiz in the form of 12 cards to do with their partners.
Distribute one set of the Comparatives quiz cards to each pair of learners. If your class is lower ability, you could use only the first six cards. In a mixed class, pair lower- and higher-level learners together.
