System administrators and database developers will also find this information useful. In the remainder of the book, I assume that you have worked with a database before. Also, I discuss running MySQL on a variety of operating systems, including Windows, but you will get more out of this book if you are at home with a Unix shell, or at least willing to learn the basics.
